For those of you who don’t know, my cousin’s son (Jason, 17 weeks old) went to Children’s Hospital on Tuesday (3/16/10) with a swollen head. They did a CAT scan and noticed a mass and fluid on his brain. The doctor ordered a full body MRI. The results were unimaginable.
Baby Jason had two tumors on his brain (one on the left and one on the right) and a tumor on his spine/brain stem. They proceeded with surgery early Wednesday morning to remove the larger brain tumor.
The surgery was successful and are waiting on results from the biopsy to see if it is malignant or benign. Once this is determined, the doctors will then assess everything again and establish a plan of attack. More than likely, they will have to do several chemo treatments to try and shrink the remaining two tumors before removing them.
Some of you remember me telling you about my cousin losing his fiance 2 months ago to a brain aneurysm. This is the same family. In just a short amount of time, the father of this courageous little boy is dealing with so much.
Please add this family to your thoughts and prayers. They are in search of some good news.
In the coming days I am going to set up a link on this site so anyone who would like to help out the family monetarily can do so.
